Subcontractors, like general contractors, are frequently impacted by events and actions beyond their control. In addition to the typical risks involved in construction (i.e., changes, differing site conditions, work stoppages, delays, material and craft labor shortages, adverse weather, etc.), subcontractors face other problems also. Subcontractors routinely deal with four sets of problems on every construction project. These problems are caused by the general contractor, the owner, other subcontractors, as well as third parties or force majeure events.
This information-packed, 90-minute webinar will examine the issues concerning subcontractor delay claims and help you:
- Identify what causes typical subcontractor delays and impacts – by all parties
- Learn contractual issues concerning subcontractor delay claims, such as privity of contract, no damages for delay clauses, waivers and releases

- Understand the keys to getting subcontractor delay claims passed through to the owner and the risks that puts on all parties
- Examine notice provisions in your contracts to ensure they are strictly enforced
- Review your contracts for entitlement, flow-down clauses and various state statutes
- Understand what the term “causation” is and what it means to all parties
- Discover circumstances when a subcontractor is entitled to recover time or money
- Demonstrate when a subcontractor can pursue delay claims against the prime contractor and how to price that claim
- Put together a checklist of tasks to perform to maintain the subcontractors right to file delay claims
- And much, much more!
