Please Review the Following Before Registering for all Classes:

• It is recommended to attend a classe/tour at the beginning of your third trimester. This will allow you adequate time to confidently prepare for the birth of your baby.
  

• If you are signing up for an IN-PERSON class, please DO NOT sign up or a tour. The tour is included in class.

• All in-person classes will be held on the Main Floor of the Zayed Building in the Chevy Chase Auditorum 2119A 
  

• All Tours will meet at the Zayed 8 Security Desk

• Children are not permitted to attend tours or classes.
  

• The expectant parent and support person are required to bring a valid state or government photo I.D. If signing up for an in person class/tour you must include the name of the care partner as well. Zayed 8 is a secured unit and we are required to provide security with a roster of all class participants.  
  

• If you are unable to attend a class or tour, we ask that you email ChildbirthEdCares@jhmi.edu so that we may open the spot to another family.
  

• At the completion of your class we can provide a receipt for insurance re-imbursement. Insurance will not accept requests prior to the date of the class. We are unable to provide coverage information for specific insurance companies.
  

• Please make your selections below for any events you wish to register, scroll to the bottom of this page and click "Submit", and proceed through the registration process. A confirmation email will be sent to you once you have successfully registered.

The Childbirth Education class is ideal for expectant parents who prefer in  education in a small group setting.

This 3-hour class, taught by a Labor Nurse. They will cover topics including: home preparations, third trimester considerations, labor stages, comfort options, breathing techniques physical and psychological changes during and after delivery, post partum recovery and a tour of The Johns Hopkins Hospital Birthing Center. In addition your instructor will describe how nursing will uniquely support you throughout your labor, delivery and recovery. 

All registrations include the patient and one support person. Familes will receive a Johns Hopkins canvas bag, TERVIS cup, and eClass access with additional resources.

 Our online childbirth education class is ideal for expectant parents who prefer self-paced learning, or have a medical condition that requires flexibility.

The three programs are interactive, web-based class that uses videos, animations, and activities to teach essential information to prepare for parenthood. This online class will help you: 

• Understand pregnancy – what’s happening to your body, discomforts, warning signs, nutrition, exercise, etc. Learn about labor – preparing for birth, pre-labor signs, onset of labor, 3D animation of the labor stages and process, etc. Learn helpful comfort techniques – including breathing, relaxation, massage, visualization, focal points, labor and pushing positions, advice for partners, and more! 
  
• Understanding your Newborn - Teaches what every parent needs to know about the first six weeks of life. Includes normal newborn behaviors, infant first aid, and much more. 
• Sibling prep- Help you big sibling prepare for the new arrival! Learn ways to get your children invloved with newborn care, safety and also help them process their emotions about becoming a sibling. 

All interested are encouraged to register for this course, regardless of location or hospital you intend to deliver at. You will have unlimited access to all online class education and resources for 270 days.

All Tours are 45 minutes long with one of our Labor Nurses. Expectant parents may bring one care partner with them. Please note: Children are not permitted to attend tours. 

Expecting families will be walked through the admission process, tour Labor and Post Partum rooms, and have the opportunity to ask questions realted to our facility.
