(BD+C) Exam Prep

(Approved for 8 AIA LUs)
4-Part Training Begins Tuesday, May 13, 2014
1:00 - 3:00 PM EDT

Presented by LEED Experts Jeffrey M. Caudill and Richard Manning

Prepare your entire team over the course of four weeks for the LEED Building Design and Construction exam — at one low price! Included are four 2-hour training sessions (8 hours total) plus preparation materials:

 Session 1 — May 13:
Introduction/Sustainable Sites (Download upon registration)
 Session 2 — May 20: Water Efficiency/Energy & Atmosphere
 Session 3 — May 27:
Materials & Resources
 Session 4 — June 3:

Indoor Environmental Quality/Innovation and Regional Priority

The LEED Building Design and Construction (BD+C) exam tests a candidate's detailed knowledge of the suite of BD+C rating systems, including LEED for New Construction and Major Renovations, LEED Core & Shell Development and LEED for Schools. This requires mastery of the requirements, key strategies, implementation and documentation contained within. Participants in this series will:

  • Understand the application of LEED requirements in varying project circumstances.
  • Learn about the primary green building strategies that contribute to LEED credits.
  • Comprehend referenced standards and calculation methodologies for key LEED credits.
  • Receive advice on how to focus their study and use other resources effectively to prepare for the exam.
  • And much, much more!

This course is designed to provide an intensive and comprehensive review of the knowledge areas required for success on the exam. It is intended to bridge the gaps between other exam preparation resources, such as the LEED BD+C Reference Guide and LEED AP BD+C Study Guide, and provide interpretation and enhanced understanding of key information contained in these resources.

Suggested additional resources include the LEED BD+C Reference Guide, 2009 Edition and LEED AP BD+C Study Guide. The study guide summarizes the critical points of the LEED for New Construction, LEED Core & Shell, and LEED for Schools rating systems in an easy-to-review format. To ensure that you can fulfill your needs as you prepare for the exam, these resources provide you with a variety of study tools, including individual and group learning activities, as well as review and practice questions that use the same format as those you will find on the actual exam.

Our instructors will share firsthand in-the-field experience in the successful implementation of LEED projects to bring the requirements to life for participants. This four-part training series will include a review of the key elements of each prerequisite and credit in the rating system and will use presentation and project examples to aid in the understanding of concepts and retention of critical information. In addition to copies of the presentation materials, the handouts will contain supplemental study materials. Throughout the four-part course, the instructors will present sample exam questions to encourage questions and enhance knowledge retention.

What Separates this Course from Others?
Ultimately, the depth of the experience your instructors bring to the class, from successfully passing the exam and certifying LEED projects. They not only prepare you for the test with exam tips and recommendations, but also help you to be better prepared to put this information to use in your day-to-day practice.

In addition, our group webinars are the most cost-effective because each registered attendee will receive the listed credits.

The 200 practice exam questions included in this workshop have been created by GBS staff who were trained by Prometric®, the LEED Green Associate Exam provider for GBCI. GBS wrote the practice exam questions for the official USGBC LEED Green Associate and LEED AP Specialty Exam Study Guides and have extensive real world experience working with the LEED rating systems. We are confident that the quality of the practice exam questions provided in this Workshop are of more value to you than a large volume of questions written without this expertise.

Also included in this program are over 120 flashcards that cover key terms, concepts, and referenced standards that you will need to know for the exam. Flashcards are an excellent tool to help drive home the content that you will be exposed to during the webinar series. Use the cards to complement the handbook and practice exam questions.

Please Note:  To take the LEED AP exams, you must have previous experience with a LEED-registered project within three years of your application submittal date.
